feast days are an essential part of my existence. i need them, and God knows it. feasts days feel freer to me, like i have more room to breathe and more space to create. today, i did a few of my favorite things: i...
folded laundry, specifically towels, and put them into beautiful stacks that remind me of the fabric brought to frauline maria in the sound of music to make her own clothes with. i have always loved the way that stack of fabric looks in the arms of julie andrews, and whenever i can emulate it at home, i do.

"God bless what's his name" (quote from sound of music just fyi) |
baked. i baked biscotti. feast days are meant for baking (if one of the ways you celebrate life is via baked goods), and i intend to bake something warm and delicious that fills the house with feast dayish smells every feast day that i am able to.
feast day in a bowl |
feast day on a plate (ps this recipe gets two very enthusiastic thumbs up) |
wore an apron while i baked. an apron made for me by a dear friend called trishey. an apron with a heart and a little pocket just right for holding eggs until they are drafted for duty. i love aprons.
please take note of perfect egg pocket in action |
made myself a shelf o’ crafts and demolished the old tub o’ confusion that, until today, harbored all of my art supplies. and i love my easily accessible craft home.
went to the post office to mail a sweet something to my sweet mimi and enjoyed the little treasures to be found on the walk to and fro the car.
one of the quaintest corners in the known world |
whatever this is it is scrumptious |
prayed in my church. smelled the roses outside of my church. enjoyed the brightly colored gems that are soaking up the last bits of summer comfort before they must succumb to the fate of all their kind come frostier temperatures. but they boldly shine on because they were made for this and this is how they glorify their Maker.
another feast day sky |
talked with my mom on the phone and related my harrowing tale of earthquake survival and compared weather scenarios. for the record, i will take texas heat over east coast winters any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
a feast day miracle with a little help from flour spillage and heart shaped measuring cups |
ate pizza. pizza is my all time favorite food (as previously mentioned, i have the sophisticated palate of a 5 year old).
went to Mass with christina and celebrated the feast of st. Bartholomew at the Eucharistic table of our Lord. the Best part of all days.
okay you caught me this is not where we went to Mass but it was as glorious as this so it works |
and now, as that thing you do provides me with some background noise, color and chuckles anytime i tune in and lenny is talking, i anticipate with pleasure the prospect of snuggling down under my covers and reading some more about Anne of Green Gables. i LOVE Anne. i understand anne. i want to live in avonlea. and i want a gilbert blythe. enough said.
that was just today. perhaps it was not exciting or overtly entertaining; but it was a simple, peaceful, blessed, lovely day. it is the day the Lord has made, and no matter the circumstances, we should rejoice and be glad in it.
and that’s all she wrote.
peace and joy of Christ be with you.

a little cayman sky from last summer to quench your thirst for a little more summer love |
