Listening in on their conversations was priceless. At least 90% of their sentences to each other began with “Let’s pretend...”. “Let’s pretend we are at disney world and we are taking a picture with this” (see photo below).
“Let’s pretend we are getting ready for a ball...”.
One of my favorite quotes of the day had to be Ella’s friend exclaiming as they painted their nails for the imaginary ball: “Could you at least stop calling me dude?”. Cue 10 minutes later somewhere upstairs (i’m downstairs) girlfriend reaches her boiling point and yells “I’M NOT A DUDE” to the persistent dude-calling Ella.
There were several times when an argument broke out over hot pink lipstick, a baby doll, pink shoes, you know, just the usual girl stuff. I would wait to intervene to see how it played out, all along thinking that their friendship was one “that’s MY makeup kit” away from falling to pieces.
Each time, it finished as quickly as it began and they were best friends again. The proof of this being that Ella announced after Madeline left that when she was older she was going to have her name changed. “To what?”, Bradford wondered. “Madeline”, answered Ella.
My conclusion at the end of the day was that two is better than one.
Though it was a bit more sandwich making work, I enjoyed the presence of more than one munchkin to care for, and Ella was so much happier having someone her size to run amok with.
Humans, kids included, were not meant to be alone, and this holds true from the moment of our conception to the end of our earth-bound lives. Thankfully, Christ promises us “I am with you always, even until the end of the age” Matthew 28:20. No matter what storm of life we are weathering, Jesus is in the boat with us or, He is beckoning us to join Him to walk on the water. Inviting us to put all of our trust in Him and see where He leads us if we let go and give it all back to Him. If we keep our eyes fixed on Him, He will never ever let us drown.
Musings of a very tired girl on the eve of TGIT officially over. This week is a doozy and I am definitely TGITing right now. Thank Goodness it’s Thursday! Happy almost weekend!
this is what we call a TGIT outfit |
I feel, and I hope you will concur, that this picture of my precious cousins Haylee girl, and Mere bear, truly encapsulates the very essence of TGIT. Living in the present moment that God is offering you out of Love from eternity and rejoicing in His Love whatever day of the week. Be it a cozy Saturday morning, your favorite pre-weekend Thursday or, the oft dreaded Monday. All is gift being poured out by our Beloved Creator. He is holding His hand out to you-grab it and see what beauty He has in store for you.
