He has looked with favor upon His lowly servant

this weekend did not disappoint.  it literally sparkled.

Saturday morn i arose from my fallish slumber to find that that impish pixy, the fall fairy, had a busy night turning the world into a land of golden sunshine, rainbow tinted foliage, and gently chilled breezes to remind us we are walking in that magical space between two seasons.

the space where creation has the chance to get a little crazy and show us her true colors.  she proved that she can and will mix fall pumpkins with left-over summer roses.

she will give us cozy mid-70s temperatures in the middle of october while never begrudging us the treat of watching bewitched leaves take their flight into the wild blue yonder for their flash of adventure before settling back to the earth from whence they came.

she will allow the moon to stay up way past her bedtime so she can enjoy the overflowing beauty inherent to this seasonal shift.

good morning, moon

suffice it to say, it was perfect.  like cartwheels in our living room after morning Mass kind of perfect.  ask china.

this D E M A N D S cartwheels
not only was i blammed in the face with the beauty of the outside world, but after Mass they were setting up for a wedding, and a guy came in, dressed as though he was a groomsman. he sat down at the piano, and i scarcely dared hope that my prayer would be accompanied by the celestial sound of a piano well played. my timid hopes were realized as his fingers took flight over those ivory keys.  i was paralyzed by the beauty.  like seriously, i almost could not move for a few minutes.  so, you see why the cart wheels had to happen.  i was exploding with beauty overload and something had to be done.

i continued to runneth over out my beauty filled cup at the job, and even the unenthused/seemingly untouched-by-the-beauty spirits that i came across in my co-workers and customers could not change what my eyes eagerly consumed each time i glanced out those windows.

the only acceptable way to spend the rest of Saturday was a visit to a farmer’s market pumpkin patch to select that ever-so-important soon-to-be-carved-into-a-masterpiece-pumpkin.

and then to be surrounded by friends in a front yard, with white twinkly lights, a bonfire, beer, bratwursts, and s’mores.  oh yeah, and catchphrase.

it was food for a soul that constantly longs for beauty.  i receive True Beauty in the Eucharist, but to have that plus all these other wonderful things.  well, color me spoiled rotten.

spoiled rotten i tell you

Sunday was more of the song of creation recklessly abandoning herself to the rotation of the earth and all of the consequences therein.

i had my happy post-mass pancakes (thank you, bubba) and post-post-mass-pancakes coffee and pleasure reading by an open window that was carefully filtering in the delicious fall breezes.  and can i just say that i am obsessed with front door open/screen door window open cool breezes flowing through my house life.  because i will.  and i am.  obsessed that is.

and so commences another week of waitressing, and hoping for the good Lord to provide (in His perfect timing of course) a job.  i have a second interview for the position in the parish I interviewed for over a week ago that i thought may have been my worst interview ever. the Lord works in mysterious ways.  so many thanks for all of your prayers and please continue to pray.

and please pray for my Mimi, who is still in the hospital, and will be living at the rehab hospital getting her back on her feet after her broken hip knocked her off of them for awhile.  thank you very much.

OH, i just remembered that by the time i finish this, it will be the Feast of St. Luke. so happy, happy Feast day.  his Gospel is probably my favorite or tied for first with John’s Gospel because he has the most extensive writings about the Blessed Mother.

"During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled"
 Luke 1:39-45

and my favorite verse:

" For nothing will be impossible for God"
Luke 1: 37

a dose of hope for you on this Feast day.

a beautiful Feast indeed.  happy, happy day to you all.
