Flora Ann Dehan

My dad’s Mama passed from her earthly life into her eternal life 44 years ago today.  She lived 40 years on this earth, which to our current standards is a very short time.  But as I watched my other grandmother prepare to leave this life after spending 86 years here, I came to realize that no matter how many years a person lives, be it 20 or 100, at the end, it feels like a few blinks of the eye.  There are parts of life that feel like forever, but once they are over and we move forward, time marches or sprints forth, and before we know it, it’s been another year, or 10 years, or 20.  And few could say they have done more with their life than my grandma Flora did.  She brought 9 immortal souls into this world, and cared for them and loved them as long as the Lord allowed her.  And now she loves them and cares for them in prayer, of this I feel quite certain.  I have her to thank for being so open to new life, and for carrying and loving and helping to prepare her precious son Christopher to become one of the best men in the world, and the man I have the privilege of calling Dad.

Without her cooperation with grace and God’s will, I would not be here, nor would my siblings, or my aunts and uncles and cousins.  Her life is an example of what happens if we allow God’s will to be at work in our lives. Her life shows that there is no telling what beauty and gifts will come of it.  Like carrying and giving birth to 9 immortal souls, infinitely Loved and desired by God.

Like having 28 or so grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

She didn’t get to hold her grandchildren or great grandchildren on earth, but I am sure she will be one of the first in the receiving line when we each are called to our true Home.  I can’t wait to see her, and thank her.

To all the Dehans who had the honor of calling Flora Ann Dehan, this Beloved daughter of our Heavenly Father, their Mama, you are in my prayers in a special way today.
