one more for the life that has changed us forever

One week ago today, our Lord called His beloved son Brendan home to Heaven.  I have already learned so much more from him and his family about life, love, and finding beauty and laughter in every part of life in these past 7 days. His wake and his funeral Mass said more than any words could about this family and their precious son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend. All the tears that were cried were for the loss of his physical presence among us, but it was very clear that his soul and spirit are very alive. There was a heavenly peace that surrounded all of us, and the beauty of the day we joined Brendan at the Eucharistic table was one that only Heaven could have created. Brendan’s life will continue to be a source of joy and hope for everyone who knows him and hears about him.

An excerpt from an article about Brendan’s meeting with his dear friend and fellow saint, Bl. John Paul II:

“Just as he reached the door, Brendan ran towards the frail pontiff.  ‘Bye, Pope,’ he cried out.
The Pope turned around and walked back to where Brendan stood.  Smiling, he leaned over and shook his hand and the Vatican photographer took another photograph.
‘It was a really special moment,’ said his mother, her voice still filled with wonder.  ‘You could see that they just loved each other’”

Brendan and John Paul, please pray for us.
